Employee Spotlight: Jay Jarvis

As the Buying Manager at Musictoday, Jay Jarvis has been with the company through thick and thin. Starting his career before Musictoday as a saxophone player for Disney, with some stops in between, he now oversees the selection, set-up, and purchases for the products that support our Musictoday owned store properties. These currently include 4 NASCAR-related stores (Dale Earnhardt Jr, Jimmie Johnson, Hendrick Motorsports and Danica Patrick), University of Virginia Athletics, Elvis Presley and various artist stores that serve our Sony Music client.

When he’s not at work, Jay loves spending time outdoors with his family and, unsurprisingly, going to shows and discovering new music. He’s a lover of all music but in particular Jazz, with his favorite band being Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers.

We’ve been through a lot together in the past few years and their perseverance inspires me every day.

When asked about his favorite Musictoday project so far, Jay responded: “There are many to choose from, but I would say that my favorites are the ones where we collaborated internally to usher in new opportunities, such as our first internally sourced and created product assortment (Amy Winehouse) or our first Ticketmaster AVO (Madonna), or projects where we’ve worked with small-scale manufacturers to create unique, one-of-a-kind products for our clients. The Glenn Beck Christmas ornament was created by the same family-owned business that made the jingle bell ornaments for ‘It’s a Wonderful Life,’ and for the Santa Claus costume worn at Macy’s in NYC and in the Thanksgiving Day Parade every year.”

Jay’s favorite part about working at Musictoday? “The close-knit and dedicated group of people I get to work with. We’ve been through a lot together in the past few years and their perseverance inspires me every day.”

You inspire us, too, Jay!
